Abstract

Vibration-dampers. - The bearings between shackles or links, for connecting springs to the frames of vehicles, and their pivots, comprise a number of interengaging surfaces, and the pressure between the surfaces can be regulated so that the shackles and links can act as antivibration devices. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the link b engages its pivot pin a by a screw-thread c, the part of the link which embraces the pin being split and provided with a clamping-screw c for adjusting the pressure between the parts. Felt disks f retained by cupped washers g retain lubricant in the bearings. In the construction shown in Fig. 3, the pin a<1> is fixed in the links b<1> and bears in a sleeve i<1>, the bearing surfaces being in the form of screw-threads. The sleeve i<1> is split and provided with clamping-screws. e'. In the construction shown in Fig. 4 sleeves j are non- rotatably fixed on the pins, and the link connecting them and rotatable upon them comprises a number of plates l alternating with and bearing upon washers m keyed to the sleeves j. The pressure between the plates and the washers is adjusted by nuts n. The link is provided with a divided casing p, and with oil-retaining washers q.
