Abstract
11,298. Danks, A. B. C., and Danks, J. A: May 17. Steam - generator furnaces; firebridges. - Relates to means for consuming smoke and for preventing the passage of cold air through the furnace of a watertube-or other boiler during stoking. The boiler A is provided with separate adjacent furnaces B, C, connected with the boiler at b<1>, c<1>, and fitted near the bridges H, H<1> witb dampers K, so that smoke from the furnace which is being stoked may pass to the stack through a flue M having a damper N To assist the com bustion, the furnace roofs and passages leading to the boiler are lined with firebrick &c., and air enters adjustable inlets S and passes through flues R to the hollow perforated bridges, which may be of curved section. Deflecting-blocks T may be arranged opposite the inlets to the boiler to prevent the direct impingement of the heat upon the tubes.
