Tyres, pneumatic.-Puncturing and slipping of the pneumatic tyres of cycles, motor cars, and other vehicles is prevented by a detachable tread formed of a leather, india-rubber, metal, or other band 1, which is secured in position by means of indiarubber side flaps 2 having angular steel-cased edges 3 adapted to engage under the edges of the wheel rim. The band is provided with metal projections such as rivets 4. A similar tread may be formed from sections, each of which consists of a pair of side flaps with the corresponding piece of band, and these sections, when made of india-rubber, may be employed to repair the tyre cover.
