Scavengers' carts.-To prevent dust from escaping to the atmosphere when discharging dust-bins into the cart, a sliding lid C, Figs. 2 and 3, is fitted between guides D on the cart top and has a flange J attached to engage a U-piece H on the side of the bin when inverted and placed in position. At the same time, another U-piece E, at the opposite side of the sliding cover B of the bin fits over a bar F on the cart, so that, on raising a spring catch G, which locks the cover of the bin, the latter may be slid along between the guides D, simultaneously pushing open the cover of the cart. On placing the bin in position, the U-piece H depresses a lever h on the cart lid to release a catch which locks it when closed. The sliding lid works on the bin by means of flanges L, as shown in Fig. 4.
