A design is traced or transferred from paper &c. on to a sign or window, is filled in with dry colours made up in crystal or spirit varnish, glycerine, naphtha, turpentine, &c., and is afterwards fixed with varnish. Glass may be lined with Brunswick black &c. to imitate leaded work. The painted side may be covered by a second sheet of glass cemented at the edges thereto.
