The part a, of malleable iron &c., which is operated by the shuttle-box swell, is fixed in a socket c in the part b, and is secured therein by a set-screw d and lock-nut d<1>. The part a, when worn, is renewed, and, in some cases, it may be constructed so that when the outer end is worn it may be reversed, to bring the other end into use.
