[Published under Patents Act, A.D. 1903.] Moulding building- blocks &c.-Concrete and artificial - stone blocks for building and other purposes are moulded in a box rising and falling on fixed cores and having collapsable sides and ends to facilitate the removal of the blocks. Figs. 1 and 10 show side and end views of the machine, and Fig. 3 a section. Cores 4, Figs. 1 and 3, are detachably secured to a table 2 and extend through the base 5 of a mould-box, the pivoted sides 6 and ends 7 of which are limited in their movement inwardly by set-screws 27, Fig. 4, and 18. Fig. 11, and are kept closed by rollers 19, 22 adjustable on the top plate. The box is supported by standards 8, Figs. 3 and 6, and hinged to arms 12 on a yoke 10, and is raised by a bar 9 passing through slots in the framing and connected to racks 36 actuated by crank-handles 33 and spur gearing. The arms 12 are adjustable laterally by means of projections engaging teeth 11 on extensions of the yokes 10, and by screws 14 and slots 12<c>. The racks are guided by bars 38, from which adjustable pins project to regulate the travel of the bar 9. Each frame 1 has an adjustable foot 43, Fig. 10, which, when turned to the position shown in dotted lines, forms a continuation of the curved bottom edge on which the apparatus is tilted to facilitate charging and ramming the material in the box. The material having set, the box is raised by turning the cranks 33, and the sides fall open as soon as their reduced lower parts reach the rollers 19, 22 ; the block is then removed and the box lowered again.
