Diaphragms For Electromechanical Transducers
(AREA)
Abstract
6655. Goodwin, J. S. March 18. Phonographs.- In order to increase the intensity of the sound emitted, and yet retain the fairly pure tones of a small diaphragm, several small diaphragms each with its own air tube are employed. The diaphragms are arranged symmetrically around the operating-style, and the air passages all unite into one of crossaction equal in area to the sum of the areas of the cross-sections of these air tubes. In Fig. 1, three diaphragms a, b, c are arranged symmetrically around the style i, which is connected to them by the arms l. These arms are preferably placed edgewise for strength. The three air passages f, g, h unite into one.
