Abstract
4266. Evans, W. Feb. 20. Exhausting.-A motor pump for the production of vacuum for ventilation, cleaning carpets, and for like purposes is shown in sectional elevation in Figs. 1 and 5, the two sections being taken at right-angles to each other. The motor cylinder A contains the piston J, which is connected directly to the piston L of the pump cylinder B. A connecting-rod N enclosed in a chamber fixed to the cylinder B connects the piston L to the flywheel shaft P. In operation the piston is driven by the explosions in the cylinder A, air being drawn into the pump cylinder B through the inlet valves W, g and driven out through the outlet valves W<1>, g'. Another engine may be attached by means of the coupling h, if desired.
