Abstract

3952. Hess, J. Feb. 17. Paper bags.-Bags for packing liquid substances are made of real or imitation parchment-paper, which is greaseproof and folded from single blanks into bags with a single vertical seam and only one bottom seam, which is protected by the bottom flaps. Figs. 1, 2, and 3 show three modifications, and Figs. 5<a> and 6<a> two of the forms taken by the blank in making the bag 1. After the blank is folded, as in Fig. 5<a>, a bottom is produced by folding the sides diagonally and spreading the folds out as in Fig. 6<a>, which shows the bottom seam 5 The flaps 6, 7 are then turned over and pasted down over the bottom seam. The bags 1<x>, 1<y> are rectangular ; the bags 1<a> have the lower flaps turned up and pasted round the sides.
