919. Riethof, S. Jan. 13. Globes for use with incandescent gas mantles may be formed with a cylindrical part a fitting into the gallery and long enough to act as a chimney and create sufficient draught. The upper portion of the part a is curved and passes into the bottom of the bell part c, as shown at b. By curving the bell as at b, a better reflection of the rays of light is obtained, which may be increased by making the part c opaque by grinding or otherwise.
