E l e c t romagnets. -A motor meter is provided with a field magnet of the form shown at A, or of rectangular form with consequent poles at the middle of two sides. The magnet has pole faces curved to fit a rotor C, and may be slotted at G to receive a few turns of a thick conductor ; it may also carry an exciting- coil E, or be permanently magnetized. A soft-iron core I is adjustable within the rotor.
