26,876. Scott, G. M. Dec. 8. Windows; window holders.- Sliding sashes are balanced without weights by means of a rack 14 on the sash stile 15 gearing with a pinion 5 mounted in the window casing. As the sash descends, the pinion 5 is rotated and winds up the spring 12 ready for raising the sash again. The rack is kept in gear with the pinion by spring rollers pressing on the opposite sash stile. The window may be locked in any position by a spring- controlled pin 9 engaging in one of the holes 7 in the pinion 5.
