Platen presses; inking-apparatus.-In a iabel - making machine, a band of paper &c. is first passed through a platen press, in the movable part 53 of which the type can be adjusted by means of a worm. Above and below a plate 54 secured to the guideway of the movable part 53, there are arranged two inking-rollers 55 which receive ink from a fountain 56 by means of a ductor and distributing-rollers, and are in contact with two rollers 57 which pass over the type with fresh ink once before each impression. The printing-press may be adjusted along the bedplate P by means of a screw-shaft 66 working through a cross-bar 61 and having a collar secured thereto, which is mounted in a recess in the bedplate of the press.
