Abstract

21,917. Irmer, P. Oct. 12. Lift valves; plug cocks; seats; removal from vessels, facilitating.- Valves for boilers are constructed to obviate the necessity of stopping the boiler for refacing or replacing the seats, by forming the seat in a tapered plug, as shown at h, Fig. 1, contained in a hollow plug b fitted into and retained in the casing in the ordinary way. In use, the valve l is operated as usual. When the valve needs refacing or reseating, the plug b is turned to close the passage through the cock, when the valve l and inner plug h may be removed. The inner plug h is retained in position in the outer plug b by the screwed cover i. A screw o may be used in releasing the inner plug.
