Abstract

Windows.-A sliding sash is adapted to turn inwards by providing the bead b, Fig. 2, with hinges g, shown also in Fig. 3, each hinge being slotted to engage a staple or hook k on the sash, when the latter is slightly raised, and secured thereto by a catch n or suspended pin. The hinges and staples may be reversed in position, and may be used as sash fasteners by fitting other staples to meet the hinges when the sashes are closed. The swinging end of the sash is secured to a balanced stile d, Fig. 6, by means of a screw t engaging a nut s mounted on a spring o, Fig. 5 ; when the screw is withdrawn, the lower booked end of the nut engages a plate r in the frame and holds the stile d. The bead b<1> is movable or may be omitted.
