4204. Hoskin, J. Feb. 23. Injectors-An injector is employed to force air into a steam boiler, air vessel, or other reservoir, in order to increase the pressure. The Figure shows a section of the injector attached to a steam boiler or tank a. Steam, entering by the pipe d, passes down through the chamberf and the cones shown, and induces currents of air through inlet pipes h,j. The mixture of steam and air is driven into the lower part of the boiler past a non-return valve k and a stop valve e. The chamber f and the cones can be adjusted vertically by a handwheel m. Each of the air-inlet pipes is fitted with a flared mouth and with a stop valve i<1> and a non- return valve i. The upper air-inlet pipes h lead into an annular space g surrounding the steam chamber f. The Provisional Specification states that the apparatus, once started, will continue to compress air for working an engine, no additional steam or coal being required.
