Abstract
25,102. House, T. E. Nov. 15. Shoots; conveyers; elevators.-Relates to shoots for loading coal &c. into wagons &c. The shoot, which is shown in its highest position, is pivoted at b at its receiving-end, and adjustably supported at its other end by a rope and winch. The motion of the coal &c. down the shoot is controlled by scrapers n on endless chains passing round wheels at the end of the shoot, and is therefore independent of the inclination of the shoot. The bottom of the shoot is perforated, and the small material dropping through is carried up a dead-plate p by the return run of the scraper chains and discharged at a suitable point. The bearings for the shaft b are fixed, and the shoot may be longitudinally adjustable on blocks connected with the shaft.
