The arrangement is shown applied to a set of four purifiers, Fig. 1 being a vertical section, and Figs. 3 and 4 horizontal sections on Y Z and W X respectively. The valve casing has lower, middle, and upper divisions. The lower division is formed into two compartments, one IN communicating with the main inlet B and with four valve inlets, and the other OT communicating with the main outlet C and with four valve outlets. The middle portion is divided into eight compartments by walls E, each compartment having an upper and a lower opening A, D, between which works a valve F, capable of closing either opening. Each valve is raised and lowered by a screw G, and is charged with liquid through a tube I to form a hydraulic seal, some of the liquid overflowing to form another seal outside the opening A. Each compartment has an opening to the purifiers, namely A', A<2>, A<3>, A<4> to the inlets of the four purifiers, and B<1>, B<2>, B<3>, B<4> to the outlets thereof. The upper division of the casing may have four bridgepipes, such as J<1>, J<2>, J<4>, in connection with the valve openings D, or it may be formed with four compartments. In the arrangements shown, the screws work within the casing. In a modification, the screws work externally, in which case the openings A are smaller than the openings D, and the valves F are reversed, that is, are closed at the top and open at the bottom. By either arrangement, gas may be passed to any or all of the purifiers, and in any order.
