Water-tube boilers. -Two annular water chambers a, b, having tube walls c, e, are connected by cylindrical or other rows of tubes d,f, arranged close together so as to form annular flues h, i for the passage of the products of combustion from a fireplace in the inner cylinder of tubes d. Liquid, vaporous, or gaseous fuel is preferably used. At one end of each cylinder of tubes, alternate tubes are reduced in diameter to form openings for the passage of the furnace gases. The drums a, bare readily removed, to afford access to the water tubes, and are connected by pipes p, p<1> with the steam collector o. To ensure an active circulation, the generator may be slightly inclined or the bottom of the pipe p closed by a plate r carrying a number of narrow upwardly-projecting tubes s, as shown.
