Abstract

21,936. Kitchen, J. G. A., and Perkins, L. P. Oct. 9. Water - tube boilers; superheaters, steam. - A water-tube boiler for motor road vehicles &c. has a central steam and water chamber a with a solid bottom, and a removable cover b. A number of rows of inclined coiled tubes c, o communicate with the interior of the shell a, and are arranged so as to facilitate cleaning, and form flues and baffles for the products of combustion from the liquid-fuel burners or firegrate supported by a pan l below the coils. The tubes of the upper row open, as shown, into the steam spaces above and below a plate g, so that the steam is dried or superheated in them. The shell is ehown screwed to a flange d with radial arms d<1> secured to the casing, wbich has a non-conducting lining f<1>. In the case of stationary boilers, the generatdr ia supported preferably by a central pipe forming a mud collector, and, accord- ing to the Provisional Specification, the furnace may be divided into two parts by a wall extending to the lowest coils. An annular shell with central coils and baffles may be used.
