Abstract

23,573. McGill, G. W. Oct. 28. Paper-fasteners.-Pins are made of a T-shape with a single pointed shank and a T-head which may be in the plane of the shank, or the shank may be bent in various ways as shown. The head may consist of a tubular piece surrounding an L-bend of the shank, or the flat part of a loop formed from the shank. The tubular head maybe applied by bending on the blanks such as shown in Figs. 3, 5, and 9, the latter having serrated ends to he turned in to close the open end of the tube ; or the ends of the tube may be knurled. When in use, the head lies against the paper &c., and the shank may be bent into a hook or turned back behind the head. When the head is turned to lie close to the shank, it may form a clip to secure a label. Other uses are mentioned, such as securing papers or paper money.
