Abstract

20,417. Gillott, B. Sept. 18. Water shoots, boats for. Boats, curved on the underside to the form shown, are fitted at the stern with an air tank f situated between the floor and the keel. A keel e<1> is formed by cutting away a portion of the boat bottom, as shown, depressions e, Fig. 7, receiving the water displaced by the boat and preventing it from shooting over the stern. Inclined or outwardly.curved waterboards g spring from about the floor level, and are set at a suitable angle with the sides a, and covered in, as at p. The width of these boards tapers gradually towards the stem of the boat; the boards increase the buoyancy, and divert displaced water so as to prevent the splashing of occupants. The boat rests upon the rails of the shoot by shoes j, and has projecting water rails h, which may be made hollow or box-shaped so as to increase the buoyancy. The ends of the boat may be straight or rounded, and the bottom may be flat or curved transversely. The water-boards may be continued round the stern, if desired, and the front part of the boat may be housed in, as at o. The boats may be provided with lubricators, such as a cylinder and piston with a handle and lever, adapted to eject oil or grease on to the track or shoes of the boat.
