Lamp shade and chimney holders.-A holder for glass shades and chimneys, with cylindrical bases and no rims and used with incandescent gas or other burners, comprises a spring plate A attached to a stem a', which passes through a hollow screw C and has its outer end a<2> flattened ; this flattened end bears against a washer e threaded on the stem a'. The screw C is passed through a tapped boss d<1 >on the annular holder D. India rubber pads a<3>, a' may be attached to the ends of the plate A. A pad, preferably covered with india-rubber, may be used instead of the spring plate A. In a modification, the screw is fitted in a bracket projecting below the holder D, and is connected to a spring plate which presses against the interior of the lower part of the shade or chimney. In another modification, the spring plate is not attached to the stem a<1>, but has one end secured to the inside of the holder' D ; in this case, the screw may be solid. In another form of holder, one or more leaf springs, which normally spring inwards, are attached to the bolder D, and the screw C is dispensed with, or the springs may be secured to the inner flange of the holder D and arranged to spring outwards. The Provisional Specification states also that an expansible ring may be employed for holding the chimneys or shades.
