Abstract
10,441. Clark , A. M., [Wagner Typewriter Co.]. May 6. Type - writers. - Relates to means for supporting the paper carriage. From the frame 1 extend lugs 2 2 to which is secured a track or rod 3, which is circular in cross-section and has connected thereto or formed therein a rack 5. The carriage 6 in which is mounted the platen 7 carries a similar track 8 provided with a rack 9. Bearing-rollers 23 are interposed between the tracks 3, 8, and are formed with circular racks 25 which engage with the racks 5, 9 so as to maintain the rollers in a fixed relation to one another and tu the tracks. A pivoted roller 14 journalled on the carriage bears on a rail 15 which can be raised and lowered by shift keys for change of case. The carriage then rocks about the rod 8, which is pivoted at 12 to links 11 which carry the feed-rack 20. The links 11 also carry a rod 17 which is enclosed by guides 18, 19, so as to permit the rod to move longitudinally but prevent any lateral movement. The track 8 is by this means maintained always in proper position on its roller bearings.
