In the e arrangement shown in Fig. 2, the stand-pipe B is fitted w i t a steam jet C for forcing the gases into the hydraulic main D. A supply pipe and jet may be permanently attached to the cap b or other part of the stand-pipe, but preferably the jet is applied, as shown, by affixing a nozzle or pipe c to the cap b and connecting a flexible or other supply pipe c<1> thereto as required. The steam jet may be applied to a pipe leading to the flue or chimney.
