Abstract

25,753. Peck, J. S. May 18, [date applied for under Sec. 103 of Patents &c. Act, A.D. 1883]. Converting alternating and direct current; distributing; regulating; transformers.-Relates to electric distribution on the three-wire direct-current system supplied from an alternating-current source. The neutral wire is connected to the windings of the transformer so that the equalizing-current will divide and the two currents so produced will neutralize one another in the windings. Fig. 1 shows one arrangement, in which 1 is a generator, 12 a rotary converter, and 8, 9, 10 transformers. The middle wire 15 is connected to the middle points of the secondary windings of the transformer, as shown. In another arrangement, Fig. 2, each transformer is provided with two secondary windings arranged partly in series, there being only three collecting-rings. Fig. 3 shows an arrangement in which the rotary transformer is driven as a generator by a band, three auto-transformers 26, 27, 28 being provided. By replacing the autotransformers by stationary transformers, threephase currents may also be employed.
