Field magnets.-A rotatable field magnet for a single-phase or polyphase alternator is provided, in addition to the major poles N S, with intermediate polar projections a, which lie between portions of the magnet winding and serve to retain the said winding in place. The intermediate projections may be at right-angles to the polar axis, Fig. 1, radial, Fig. 2, or parallel to the polar axis. An equivalent arrangement consists in providing the core with radially-disposed sets of conductor channels. Figs. 5, 6, 7, and 8 show various forms of conductor channels which may be adopted.
