The valve k has ports l, m in communication with the supply of the motive fluid, and an exhaust cavity g whereby admission and exhaust through the ports t, u are effected when the valve is oscillated. The actuation of the valve is effected by the wing p acted on by a portion of the motive fluid admitted from the cylinder ports t, u to small crossover passages v, w by ports i. In the case of rock-boring drills, plugs r are provided by which the ports i can be more or less throttled so as to regulate the strokes of the drill. The space c in the valve-casing is a reservoir for lubricant.
