11,443. Hubbard, H. de F. June 4. Water-tube boilers. -The tubes of a marine &c. watertube boiler are expanded into headers 8 shaped as shown in Fig. 5 and resting on one another. Each header has a cavity 9 and a hand closure or a closing- plug 11 with a recessed socket to receive a wrench. These plugs facilitate the cleaning or removal of the tubes. The lower ends 4 of the tubes terminate in a water supply drum 2, Fig. 1, fed by a pipe 3 and communicating by pipes 7 with a steam drum 6 in which the upper ends 5 of the tubes terminate. Filling-headers 10 are provided. The baffle-plates 15 may be placed at any desired level.
