Water-tube boilers.-The water tubes traversing the combustion chamber and connected to the drum A are made straight and connected at their lower ends to one or more water pockets E, arranged above the fire-doors and having removable lids, so that the tubes can be readily and separately inspected. The feed, before entering the drum A, passes through the tubes H, which thus form a feedwater-heater ; the steam leaving the drum A passes through the superheating-tubes K<1>.
