Abstract
25,433. Golby, F. W., [Sch³tte, J.]. Dec. 22. Multitubular and water-tube boilers. -Relates to a combined multitubular and water - tube boiler shown in end elevation in Fig. 1 and in side elevation in Fig. 2, and consisting of two flat water chambers a, opening above to two transverse steam drums g, h and connected by a shell or body o. The chambers a and body o are traversed by fire-tubes b. Lateral water drums i, k communicate with the chambers a, and with a transverse drum l, which is connected with the steam drum g by water tubes t ; and water tubes s connect the lateral drums with the lower central part of the body o, so as to protect the latter from the direct heat of the furnaces m, m. The body o is stayed by vertical plates e with slots f shown in dotted lines in Fig. 2. The application of the boiler to marine purposes is mentioned.
