544. Barraclough, J. Jan. 9. Tool-holders for lathes and slotting-machines. Relates to a tool-holder permitting of an angular adjustment of the tool on its axis, and specially adapted for screw-cutting and slotting. The tool k, Fig. 2, is clamped by set-screws l in the head d, the shank c of which passes through a hole in the block a. By rotating the shank c in the block a, the tool can be set at any required angle, and it is then clamped by the nut f. The end c' of the shank c is conical, to hold the tool rigidly. In a modification, Fig. 5, there are projections h on the head d which fit into notches : i in the block a, the movement required for adjustment being allowed by the spring m.
