Abstract
16,137. Tattersall, H. P. Sept. 11. Shutters.-Relates to a shutter adapted for instantaneous or time exposures. In setting the shutter, two sliding plates c, c<1> are lifted together by pulling up the rod f. The plate c<1> is held by a catch wand projection y<11>, and the plate c by a catch u<1> and projection z<1>. When the plates are raised, the piston-rod e' of a pneumatic cylinder e is at the same time pushed up. By 'pushing the stud x, the plate c' is released, and falling down under the action of the spring r, uncovers the lens. The piston-rod e<1> now descends, and, acting on a bent lever u at a definite interval, releases the shutter c, which closes the lens. For time exposures, the shutter is set at its slowest speed, and the stud x is pushed in to release the slide c<1>, and is then allowed to return in time to catch the plate c and hold it up, even after it is released by the pneumatic piston. The time of descent of the piston-rod e<1> is regulated by an airadmission valve t<1>, which is set by an external indicator acting on the lever l.
