Class 98(1) In a photographic shutter, a movable control member for flash synchronisation and a delayed action self-timer is locked against movement by a safety catch which engages it. Preferably, the safety catch is a pivoted lever and may be a two-armed lever 32 engaging notches 40 in control member 28 or, alternatively, it may be a single armed lever engaging inwardly open notches. When a self-timer having its own driving spring is cocked by moving member 28 from the position X of instantaneous flash to the position V of delayed action release, no notch 40 is provided in the V position and the member may be returned to the X position by a spring as soon as the self-timer is cocked or as soon as the shutter is released. When the self-timer is cocked by setting the shutter, a third notch 40 is provided (Fig. 4, not shown).
