13,548. Carter, H. E. July 27. Chairs; rail joints; gauge, adjusting.-Railway and tramway chairs are made with one loose jaw, as shown, or with both jaws loose. A tapered key, driven through the holes d in the cheeks on the base and through the hole f in the loose jaw, secures the parts together, and, if both jaws are loose, the gauge may be altered by adjusting the keys. The jaws may be provided with pins j and holes k, to secure the rails at the joints or elsewhere.
