Leggings and gaiters.-Relates to that class of leggings or gaiters, the edges of which overlap, and which are secured by straps wound helically round them. Fig. 1 is a front view, and Fig. 2 a rear view, of one form of gaiter. The fastening is effected by a short strap b fixed to the outer flap of the gaiter a and engaging with a buckle c on one end of a strap d, the other end of which is fixed to the back of the gaiter. A second strap e is also fixed to the back of the gaiter, and its fixed end abuts against the end of the strap d. The strap e is preferably fixed to the outer flap of the gaiter at e<1>, and engages with a buckle f on a strap g. The straps g, h are arranged similarly to the straps d, e, and the strap h engages with a buckle j on a short strap k, which is fixed at one end to the upper edge of the gaiter. The abutting-ends of the straps at the back of the gaiter are covered by loops l. The straps d, e may be made in one piece, and so also may the straps g, h. In a modification, the buckle c and strap d are dispensed with, and the strap b is lengthened and wound round the gaiter to engage with the buckle f, which may be a short strap, and in this case the straps g, h are replaced by a single strap. These leggings or gaiters may form the tops of boots.
