Abstract

Locks, key; latches.-Relates to means for holding latch bolts and bolts proper of locks and latches in their shot and drawnb a c k positions against being operated from the outside by any other than a master key. Such means are fitted in addition to and independent of the ordinary locking - mechanism. The sliding handle c<2> for operating the latch is provided with a lever arm c which carries a s t u d c<5> passing through a notched slot d in the case and through a slot g<5> in an underlever g. This lever is pivoted at g<2> so that parts g<3>, g<4> are adjacent to a ward seating m for the key and in the path of the key bit. The latch is secured in the shot and withdrawn positions by moving the stud c<5> into the notches d<3>, d<2> respectively. Fig. 4 shows the bolt locked in the shot position. It is released by turning the key to engage the part g<3>, and so lifting the stud c<5> from the notch d<3> into the straight part of the slot d. The action in locking is similar. The lever g is held in its two positions by a spring s.
