A tread piece D, of agglutinated and rubber coated wadding placed between two strips E, F of moleskin, is inserted between the air tube and the outer cover. The tread piece may be replaced by non-inflammable nitro-cellulose, the tissues of which may be of artificial silk made according to the Chardonnet process.
