Windows.-The casement B is mounted on central vertical pivots E carried by ribbed angleiron brackets C pivoted to the frame A, and can be reversed for the purpose of cleaning the outside, or it can be held open by a stay rod G, as shown, for the purpose of ventilation. A stop L comes in contact with the bracket when the casement is swung back, and a spring I, carrying a stud projecting through a hole in the bracket, bears against the casement, and tends to keep it in line with the bracket. The stiles, rails, and brackets are of special weatherproof shapes as shown in horizontal section in Fig. 4, and in vertical sections in Figs. 5, 6, and 7. As applied to fanlights or transom windows, the brackets or links swing on upper horizontal pivots, and are pivoted to the centres of the sash stiles. Quadrants pivoted to the sash slide through guide-slots in the frame. The casements may be mounted in sliding sashes or frames.
