A lamp-holder a is provided with a collar b to support a spring and a sliding sleeve k, by which a shade can be held against the edge of the top g of the lampholder. The parts a, g are connected by bayonetslots and pins, so that they can be separated when a shade is to be placed on the holder. In a modification, the collar b is replaced by a sleeve, which is secured detachably by slots and pins on the socket a, and which contains the spring to hold up a shade-supporting ring.
