Abstract

15,326. F³ller, J., and K÷hler, A. July 12. Driving-mechanism.-The Figures show the application to a bicycle. A pin-wheel a secured to the rear wheel hub, Figs. 1 and 2, is driven by a wheel b mounted on arms d secured to the stay c. A crank e, secured to the wheel b, is connected by a rod h to a crank g keyed to the usual crank axle i. The latter is driven by treadle-levers f, one of which is keyed to the axle i, the other being mounted behind the axle, as shown separately in Fig. 3, and having a slot k which engages a crank l, keyed to the axle i so that the downward motion of one lever lifts the other. In a modification, shown in Fig. 4, segmental wheels m and n, secured respectively to the axle i and lever f, cause the alternate rise and fall of the levers. In a further modification, shown in Fig. 6, both levers are mounted on the axle i, and have secured to them segmental wheels p which engage a bevelwheel q carried underneath the bottom bracket.
