Abstract
13,192. Hughes, J., and Owen, W. June 13. Motor road vehicles.-Motor bicycles are constructed so as to reduce the jarring produced by the motor. The motor 1 is secured to the backstays 9 so that its axis lies in the plane of the wheel 7, its axle 2 being provided with a wheel 4 connected by a chain 5 with a wheel 6 connected to the road wheel 7. A gear case 8 encloses the chain &c. Suitable ignition devices are secured to the stays 8, and a silencer and oil tank 11 are secured to the frame as shown. By this arrangement the motor &c. does not interfere with the rider pedalling.
