9182. Millican, J. April 20. Sawing.-Relates to an apparatus for crosscutting logs of wood. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the saw is fed upwards against the log K. The saw frame B is reciprocated by a crank and connecting-rod C in two roller guides D. These guides are mounted on a bar which is fed upwards by bell cranks G actuated by the lever handle J, to which they are connected by a rod. The log K is gripped between two jaws P and P', the former being fixed and the latter mounted on a slide D<1> actuated by a screw R. In a modification, the saw is mounted on a frame above the log and is fed downwards by two levers connected by toothed gearing.
