Abstract
5271. Leitmayr, B. March 20. Sawing. - Relates to a circular sawing - machine for sawing thin strips or laths, with automatic feed mechanism. A plan of the machine is shown in Fig. 1. The wood h to be sawn up by the circular saw d is clamped to a slide e, which is actuated by a rack and a pinion s running loose on the shaft p b u t capable of being thrown into engagement by the clutch r. The clutch r is pushed into engagement with the pinion, when the roller g on the slide e, moving backwards, strikes the inclined plane 8 on the clutch lever w. The end of the lever w is held locked by the shoulder 10 on the spring lever y, and the slide e with the wood is fed forwards till the stud 12 presses back the lever y. A weighted lever 7 then disengages the clutch, and the slide e is brought back by a weight. A lever for holding the wood away from the saw during the return stroke is actuated by stops on the slide e. When the whole of the wood has been cut up, the spring j, which presses the wood against the fence, strikes the stop 16, which through suitable levers and rods disengages the clutch permanently and stops the feed. The inclined plane 25 presses back the lath as it is cut off.
