Abstract
30,598. Johnson, W. B., [Blair, G. W., and Hays, H. L]. Dec. 28. Blowing and moulding hollow-ware &c. A twopart press-mould 2 and a two-part mould ring 4 are supported on the standard 3. A plunger 20 serves also to admit air to the mould, and a rod which can be raised and lowered by the lever 18 is provided with a head 10 containing a screwthreaded recess and fitting into the bottom of the press-mould. Glass is poured into the mould, the plunger 20 is depressed, and the mould 2 is then opened and the blank' drawn downwards while air is admitted, so as to form a tube, a cylinder to be opened out into a sheet, or other article. A mould such as that indicated in dotted lines may be used to shape the glass while being drawn and blown. The mould or the blank may be arranged to rotate.
