Abstract

29,586. British Thomson-Houston Co., [Moody, W. S.]. Dec. 14. Transformers.-Relates to the arrangement of the coils on a single-circuit core so as to give satisfactory regulation when the load becomes unequal on the different branches of a three-wire system. Fig. 1 shows the arrangement with a twowire system supplying the primary, the secondary of which is connected to a three-wire system. The two primary coils F, F', one on each leg, are connected in series. The secondary is divided into coils C, G', G<2>, G<3>, which are connected in pairs, the coils of each pair being mounted on separate legs. The coils G, G<3> are connected between the main H and the neutral wire I and the coils G<1>, G<2> between the main J and the neutral wire. The coils should be at a substantially equal inductive distance from the primary, being preferably arranged as shown (on one leg) in Fig. 3. Transformers may be similarly arranged when both primary and secondary are three wire systems, or where the primary is a three-wire and the secondary is a two-wire system.
