Abstract

28,420. Taylor, W. Dec. 2. Plaited or folded effects, producing.-In crimping, creasing, or folding pile fabrics to produce certain effects, the fabric x is fed by a spiked roller m to be engaged by the spikes d<1> on endless chains d carried over rollers b, c. The chains are guided underneath by a series of guides f pivoted at f<1> and converging together towards the rear, being adjusted by screws j, each of which actuates a pair of the guides. The fabric, on being thus fed by the chains d along a well or space n underneath, is creased longitudinally by reason of the converging guides. From the rear of the space n the fabric is fed between pivoted plates o<1>, p<1> by a roller p<2> acting in conjunction with endless tapes o<3> and with a web of canvas u<1>, which with the fabric is wound on a perforated roller S. In its passage between the plates o<1>, p<1>, the fabric is creased transversely. The fabric, with its canvas covering, is steamed on the roller S, which is perforated for the purpose. Instead of the roller steaming-arrangement, a chest arrangement for steaming is described in the Provisional Specification.
