Abstract

Escapements; pendulums; regulators.-(1) In eight-day pendulum clocks, the length of the pendulum H is adjusted to the decreasing power of the main spring by suspending it from a lever G which is acted on by a cam C revolving in the period. (2) To dispense with the necessity for levelling, the escapement anchor is mounted upon a pendulum cock R, S which shifts upon the frame S<1>. (3) In clocks with balances, the regulator may be shifted automatically for the same purpose.
