Abstract
20,634. Marpole, E., and Owen, E. Sept. 8. Stoppers.-Relates to stoppers for mineral-water, wine, spirit, champagne, and other bottles &c. The stopper B is of cap form, and in the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 2, is secured on the neck by a bayonet-joint connection I, J. The mouth of the vessel is closed by a cork disc mounted on the plate F, and pressed on the mouth by the spring D. The plate F is revolubly connected to a second plate E, to which, and to the top of the cap, the spring D is affixed. Perforations K, K<1> are formed in the cap, to permit the escape of the gas when the stopper is released. In the form shown in Fig. 9, the cap is formed with turned-in lugs b, which are passed down the grooves g in the neck, and engaged, by rotating the cap, under the bead h. The plate e, which carries the cork disc f, is directly connected to the spring c. In Fig. 10, the cap is secured by projections k engaged under the bead l, and the cork n is shaped, as shown, to enter the mouth of the vessel.
